Woven Wire Mesh

Stainless Steel Woven Wire Mesh Filter Cartridge

A rolled woven mesh cylinder for coarse-duty filtration, welded to your drawing and cleaned and returned to service.

  • 5 – 200 μm
  • Woven metal wire mesh, woven in house
  • up to ≤600 °C
Rolled stainless steel woven wire mesh filter cartridge with a welded seam and welded end caps

A rolled stainless steel woven mesh cartridge for the coarser end of filtration: pre-filtration, protection of a finer element downstream, and streams carrying screenable particles. Woven wire mesh covers 5–200 μm, and inside that range the exact opening follows the weave, confirmed by bubble point and air permeability measurement on every batch. Service temperature holds to 600 °C.

This cartridge is a woven stainless mesh rolled into a cylinder and welded to the end caps and adapters the housing needs. The opening is set by the weave — the wire diameter and the mesh count the cloth was woven to on our own looms — which is what gives woven mesh its 5–200 μm range. Inside that range the exact opening follows the duty: we ask for the duty, then name the weave and confirm the opening with a bubble point and air permeability measurement on the batch.

Woven mesh suits the coarser end of the work: pre-filtration, protection of a finer element downstream, and streams where the contaminant is a screenable particle rather than a fine haze. Where the duty is fine — a contaminant measured in a few microns, an element that has to hold a great deal of it — a sintered fiber felt cartridge or a multilayer sintered mesh element is the right answer instead. We say so at the drawing stage rather than after the first cleaning cycle. The same cloth also serves as the protective and support layer around those finer media, which is one material doing a different job.

The cylinder is rolled, flanged where the drawing calls for it, and welded in house by TIG, resistance or laser welding. Support layers and end connections are welded here too. Service temperature holds to 600 °C. Because the mesh is a single well-defined opening rather than a depth medium, it cleans quickly and repeatedly, and the same element goes back into the line.

Most of what we ship is a replacement: send the OEM part number, the drawing or a used element and we match dimensions, weave, flange and connection detail before anything is quoted. Otherwise send the seven inputs — temperature and peaks, medium and corrosive constituents, working pressure and differential, contaminant and particle size distribution, required rating with any bubble point or air permeability target, flow and elements per housing, and the geometry or OEM part number — and our 15 application engineers read it and return a dimensioned drawing for approval.

Key Benefits

What this element buys you in service

  • 01

Coarse duty at a defined opening

The weave gives one well-defined opening, so a screenable particle is stopped at the surface and the element is cleaned quickly and put back into service.

  • 02

Protects the fine element behind it

Used as a pre-filter or as the protective layer over a sintered felt or multilayer sintered element, it takes the coarse load before it reaches the rated medium.

  • 03

Repeated cleaning without losing the element

A single-layer mesh does not hold contaminant in depth, so backwashing or off-line cleaning returns the same cartridge to the line instead of replacing it.

  • 04

Fits the housing you already run

Rolled and welded in house to your drawing, with the end caps, adapters and flange detail matched to the element in service.

Construction

How the element is built

  1. Woven mesh cylinder — the rated layer

Stainless cloth woven on our own looms and rolled to the diameter the drawing gives. The opening is set by the wire diameter and the mesh count, within the 5–200 μm range woven mesh covers, and the exact figure is confirmed on the batch.

  2. Seam weld

The longitudinal seam is welded in house by TIG, resistance or laser welding, and the cylinder is flanged where the connection calls for it.

  3. Support core

A coarser woven or perforated core carries the differential pressure so the rated cloth keeps its weave in service.

  4. End caps and adapters

Welded in house to your drawing, with the flange and connection detail matched to the OEM element being replaced.

Materials

Alloys this element is built in

The alloy follows the medium, the temperature and what the element has to resist. Where a duty sits between two of them, an engineer says which one and why.

  • 304 stainless steel

General industrial duty where corrosion is not the limit.

  • 316L stainless steel

Chosen where chlorides or acids are present in the medium.

  • 310S stainless steel

Heat-resistant grade for continuous high-temperature service.

  • 904L stainless steel

High-alloy austenitic grade for chlorides and acids.

  • Hastelloy

Nickel alloy for aggressive media where stainless is not enough.

  • Inconel

Nickel-chromium alloy for high temperature with corrosion.

  • Monel

Nickel-copper alloy for chlorides and seawater duty.

  • Titanium

    Corrosive or high-purity service.

  • Nickel alloys

Aggressive media at temperature, where stainless is no longer enough.

Industries

Where this element runs

The duties this element is bought for, and what it is filtering in each of them.

  • Chemical fiber and polymer

Coarse pre-filtration ahead of a finer element in the polymer stream, and protection of the medium downstream.

  • Petrochemical

Pre-filtration of process streams, taking the coarse load before the rated element sees it.

  • Hydrogen and industrial gas

Coarse filtration where the cartridge is cleaned and returned to service rather than replaced.

  • Semiconductor

Coarse protection upstream of a fine element, where a single mesh opening is easier to verify than a depth medium.

The industries page sets each of these duties in place, with the systems it belongs to and the filter positions we are asked to quote in it

Customisation

Built to your drawing

Rolled to your diameter, length, weave and seam position, with end caps, adapters and the flange and connection detail following the housing or the OEM element being replaced. Where the duty turns out to be finer than woven mesh can hold, we say so at the drawing stage and propose a sintered felt or multilayer sintered mesh cartridge instead.

Send what you have — a drawing, a part number, a photograph of the element in place, or just the operating conditions. Nothing is quoted from a part number alone.

Datasheet, drawing and batch record

No document is published for this element yet. Ask for it and the engineering desk sends the drawing and the specification sheet — and, on a repeat order, the batch record with them.

Why Us

Tested before it ships, from a plant you can audit

Every element is welded and batch-tested in our own plant, and the batch record travels with the dispatch. About 70% of our work is a replacement for an element already in service, which is why a drawing or a used part is enough to start from.

  • ISO 9001 Quality system
  • 70 / 30 Replacement work to work designed from conditions
  • 30–40% Below the brand element it replaces
  • 3–5 days Drawing review before a quote

Questions

Questions this element raises

What micron rating does a woven mesh cartridge have?

Woven wire mesh covers 5–200 μm. Inside that range the opening is set by the weave — the wire diameter and the mesh count the cloth was woven to. Send the duty and we name the weave, then confirm the opening with a bubble point and air permeability measurement on the batch.

When should I choose a woven mesh cartridge over a sintered element?

When the contaminant is a screenable particle rather than a fine haze, and when the element is cleaned often. If the contaminant is measured in a few microns and the element has to hold a great deal of it, a sintered fiber felt cartridge or a multilayer sintered mesh element does the job better, and we say so before anything is quoted.

Can you match the cartridge we are running now?

Yes — that is most of what we ship. Send the OEM part number, the drawing or a used element and we confirm dimensions, weave, flange and connection detail before anything is quoted.

How is the cartridge cleaned in service?

It is backwashable and can be cleaned in place or off-line. A single-layer mesh does not hold contaminant in depth, so cleaning returns the same element to the line; send the method your line uses and we confirm it suits the weave.

What lead time and minimum order apply?

Drawing review takes 3–5 working days, samples ship in 20–30 days and production runs take 30–60 days. The minimum order is a few pieces to a few dozen cartridges.

What travels with the shipment?

The measured batch record. Bubble point and air permeability are checked on every batch and the record ships with the elements, so the figures the cartridge was accepted against are the figures you hold.

Send the drawing, or the duty.

A drawing, an OEM number or a used element is the fastest route to a quote. With only the process — temperature, medium, pressure, flow — our engineers select the medium and issue a drawing for approval before anything is sampled.

Replacement elements cost 30–40% less than the brand they replace · Samples ship in 20–30 days
