A woven stainless mesh disc, disced from cloth woven in house and edge-finished to your drawing. It suits small housings, stacks of discs and protective layers in front of a finer medium. Woven wire mesh covers 5–200 μm, and inside that range the opening is set by the weave; the figure is confirmed by batch measurement. Service temperature holds to 600 °C.
This element is woven stainless cloth cut into a disc: the simplest form of woven mesh filter, and often the least expensive way to put a defined opening into a housing. The disc is disced from cloth woven on our own looms, edge-finished, and, where the drawing asks for it, welded or flanged to a support ring or a frame. The opening is set by the weave, inside the 5–200 μm range woven wire mesh covers, and the exact figure is confirmed on the batch.
Discs suit small housings and shallow elements: a single screen in a holder, a stack of discs in a short housing, or a protective layer in front of a finer medium. They are used where the contaminant is screenable, where the element is cleaned or exchanged on a schedule, and where the change-out is quick because the part is small.
Where the duty is finer than a woven opening can hold — a contaminant measured in a few microns, held in depth rather than on the surface — a sintered fiber felt or multilayer sintered mesh disc is the better element, and we name that at the drawing stage. Woven discs are also used as the support and protective layers inside those stacks.
Most discs we make are replacements: send the OEM part number, the drawing or a used disc, and we match diameter, weave, edge finish and any welded ring or flange. New duties start from operating conditions, and our application engineers read the drawing or the condition sheet and return a dimensioned drawing for approval before a price is given. Every batch is measured for bubble point and air permeability, and the record travels with the dispatch. Send the method your line uses to clean the discs and we confirm the weave suits it.
